Meeting newer, stringent safety protocols in the steel stud trade is a breeze with this. Our safety regulations require glasses and shield when cutting metal with carbide discs due to high impact shatters that cause serious facial injury. I love just pulling up the saw and dropping this thing down. The cost is absolutely worth not having to chase around your halo before you make a cut- its always right there.
It’s a little annoying when youre working in tight spaces and its in the up position cause it bonks on everything. But the materials are resilient and rarely scratches and hasn’t broke. I have been using this same shield for 18 months. Also VERY easy to clean and defogs really fast, if it even fogs on you.

Well made and super thin and lightweight. The polycarbonate is much stronger than it looks! We use them with the air knife, during vertical mulching and root collar excavations, etc. so they get peppered with rocks, soil, and mud constantly, but haven’t broken. They do get scratched up fairly easily and at the price point, are costly to replace! It would be nice if they had some type of protective tear off system like racing helmets have. Then when getting blasted in the face with mud one could pull a layer off and keep working, Rather than having to stop and clean the shield or more likely and most often just wipe the dirt off with a gloved hand. Once they get scratched to a certain point they’re hard to see through, even when clean. The Photos helmet system with this shield is suited perfectly for air work as it cuts the sound protects your face and keeps the dirt out of your hair and down the back of your neck, all in one unit however $71 a pop adds up, and I’m not personally interested in keeping a stack of them around as replacements.
